X-Tile Bar Stools

Furniture can be a very serious, adult sort of business, so it's good to lighten things up with a few pieces that can laugh at themselves. This light-hearted Italian design, the X-Tile bar stool, is by Julian Pastorino & Cecilia Suarez, and is just one piece in a series named for its key structural component. (We also like the bench/coffee table.) The series is produced by CASAMANIA by Frezza. "X-Tiles" are inspired by the clamps used to connect large sheets of glass at construction sites. We're not very familiar with construction site tools; we just like the way these elements form an alien face -- if you look from a particular angle. The X-Tile line comes in many colors, and depending on where you postion your lights, you can use the pieces almost like gels, to cast tinted shadows on your floors and walls. These stools are normally $449 apiece, but are on sale right now at EuroFurniture for $225 while inventory lasts, in the blue, amber, red, or transparent versions. An article in the (Ireland) Post quotes interior designer Aoife Power as saying that, "the X-Tile chair by Casamania will be a collector's item because of its unique technical and detailed design."
