A few weekends ago, we were in Santa Rosa and dropped in to meet Ty Jones of Ray Design Studio.
Ty not only has a retail shop open to the public, he has a design business that is focused on residential design. His work includes both architectural design and interiors. While he says "the professional images [from Gus Modern, Oly, and other companies, shown on his website] capture the work much better than my own inept photography," judging by the beautiful, light-filled shop, we have no doubt that Ty can transform even the most neglected home -- or warehouse -- into something gorgeous.
He offers the standard free consultation, and then price varies by project. He does color work, remodels, and furnishings selection. Ray Design Studio extensively uses Oly Studio, Kartell and vintage pieces. Ty says, "My primary focus is very eclectic...Bringing together the things the client loves but is unsure of how to mix." He adds, "I really don't do period styles."
Ty draws on his training in architecture, interior design and 16th-century architectural history for his varied projects. He's currently working on the rehabilitation and remodel of the Maria Groff House, a late 19th-century home located in the West End Historic District of Santa Rosa.
