We're planning to put our TV into the fireplace (once we get rid of the HUGE old one that we hate, and have a re-home for). It's not a functional fireplace, and we can always hide it with the screen if we want the room to look a bit more formal. Not quite there, but it's in the works!
We built a cabinet around our TV and put our components above it for easy access but sort of our of sight...

Love it! Love it! Love it!
Some great ideas! can't wait to try one.
The fireplace thing looks great, but super impractical to watch the tv thats 6 inches off the floor.
@joey, I agree a pain in the neck, literally.
My condo was built in 1939 and has concrete walls behind the plaster... I've wanted to mount my tv but am afraid that the concrete will get crumbly and the whole thing will come crashing down eventually, leaving a lot of concrete gash filling for me.
Is it okay to mount a tv in concrete?
