We usually don't talk much about recipes over here at Ohdeedoh. But these strawberry yogurt covered pretzels looked too good not to share.
My kids love yogurt and pretzels separately and the idea of combining sweet and salty with a crunch has my mouth watering. As you may have guessed, it's a pretty simple recipe that requires you to preheat the oven but not actually bake anything. I'll warn you that the recipe calls for a lot of confectioner's sugar to thicken up the yogurt, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for replacing the sugar with something else.

Tried this, added double the sugar called for and still a runny mess. Read the comments, everyone had the same problem. I would skip this recipe, it totally does not work!
Oh, and I believe that commercial yogurt covered pretzels have hydrogenated oils in them to make the coating thicker, but I doubt that this would be an acceptable sugar substitute for you.
I believe what makes confectioner's sugar work is that it's full of cornstarch, so you could add a bunch more cornstarch (or potato- arrowroot- etc. starch) but that sounds kind of gross.
At that point it's candy anyway, so why not be done with the yogurt and go with white chocolate?
I also tried this recipe, and it didn't work for me either. I am going to try again, using a mixture of melted white chocolate and yogurt, but the directions to mix powdered sugar and yogurt together were a complete flop.
In the past I have used arrowroot powder to thicken up natural homemade cake frosting. maybe that would work? I would even experiment with leaving the sugar out all together and just using the arrowroot (strawberry yogurt is super high in sugar anyway). Might work...
I don't think mixing white chocolate and yogurt would work either - I don't think the white chocolate would set properly if anything wet was mixed in.
They removed this recipe from the site. Maybe others had the same problem . . . When I looked online for a similar recipe, all the recipes were the same except they used an additional cup of confectioners sugar. They also suggest using a hand blender (immersion). I haven't tried it but will soon.
