All year long we take you inside real homes and apartments for a look at fresh spaces, smart design solutions and to meet the always interesting inhabitants. For the first time ever, we're asking readers to choose the TOP tours of the year: the ones that resonated with you the most, that inspired your own design choices or, perhaps, where you fantasize living yourself! We've pinned 100 top tours from 2012 onto a Pinterest board and now it's your turn to choose your absolute favorites.
How it works:
1. Follow and visit our Top 10 Tours of 2012 Pinterest Board between December 1st and 31st to discover, revisit and enjoy 100 of our most popular tours published in 2012. Simply click through on any image to view the full tour.
2. Repin your 10 most favorite tours from that board, to select your own "top ten".
3. At the end of December, we'll tally up those repins to determine Readers' Top 10 Tours of the Year and announce them on Apartment Therapy on January 1st. (Note: We will only be counting repins of the images originally pinned on the "Top House Tours of 2012" board created by Apartment Therapy).
And, of course, we hope you'll follow us on Pinterest throughout the year as we share tours, style and living tips, shopping guides and more.

So, I take it we can't vote unless we use Pinterest?
@Jukesgrrl, looks like!
And what's this "follow us (i.e., AT) on Pinterest throughout the year" business? I've been happy to follow AT on AT. Don't care to join Pinterest and can "pin" my favorite images on my own computer album.
Thanks anyway, Maxwell.
If I WERE to vote, which I guess I won't be, it would actually be for Mark's tour (as in Mark with cake, above).
Would love to vote, but not by subscribing to another website.
No.
This is wrong, AT. Very disappointed. Shame on you.
Hello and thanks for the feedback!
A few points, just to clarify our thinking on this process:
The concept here is simply to try something a little different and new to make a list of favorite tours of the year in a very visual way.
There is no requirement to join Pinterest to view, revisit, discover and enjoy the 100 selected tours - you can view and click through and enjoy all of tours from the 2012 Tours board in their entirety without being a Pinterest member.
It's not a contest with prizes etc so the "repin" participation to help choose the Top 10 is simply a fun/sharing thing for the readers, the House Tour participants and the Apartment Therapy team, for anyone who chooses to join in and repin.
To those who do participate, thanks for taking part - we're super excited to see which tours are the big favorites!
That said, we hope EVERYONE enjoys seeing the 100 great tours and finding out the results of the Readers Choice process on January 1, even if you choose not take part in the repinning process.
Feedback is always welcome by email: editorial@apartmenttherapy.com
Thanks and happy house tour-ing!
Play fair AT. It's not nice to build a community based on conversation and collaboration, but then insist that people also sign up elsewhere if they want to join in. In addition, from a purely commercial point of view, it's never a good idea to fragment an audience across various websites when your income is derived from volume.
Also, the voting process is a little laborious. Firstly, I have to open this post, leave AT, go to Pinterest, click on a tour I like the look of... and then click to come back again to view the tour on AT. Then, if I want to vote for that entry, I have to go back to Pinterest, and (assuming I have an account), re-pin the original entry. And then repeat 9 times.
Thanks, AT. I like the idea of having all the best tours in one simple place. I am a pinterest member, so I had no problem viewing each tour and "liking" them.
How silly. Sure, you can see one photo of each tour on pinterest....and now we are supposed to come back to AT a try to find the full tours? Please.....
All of it is laborious, and I will not take the trouble of voting. This is about decoration, not politics, therefore unimportant - a comment coming from someone who is passionate about decoration.
I wish you guys had just run this like you do the Small Cool et al contests.
GeorgiaZee,
No searching necessary. One of the reasons we organized them on our Pinterest account is that you can simply click on the single picture on the board and it brings you directly to the individual full tour on Apartment Therapy.
RocketScientist,
We didn't run it like Small Cool etc. because its not actually a "contest", just a different way of creating a fun, end of year post and re-sharing 100 of our favorite tours from the past year with everyone.
I just want some of that cake.
As someone who actively uses Pinterest, I like this (minus the repinning - just based on likes). However, I immediately knew people would have an issue with this.
Oh well, can't please everyone. I personally like it, because most of those were truly my favorite tours and it is a nice place to see them organized.
Don't do Pinterest, not joining just for this. If we're not supposed to follow AT for its own sake, then what's the point?
Does AT have a deal going with Pinterest?
Ditto.painful process removes the enjoyment.
No, no deal with Pinterest, just trying something new/different. Thanks to everyone for the feedback and to all who have been pinning - we have some early breakout leads for the top ten already!
No thanks. If you really want all participation, do it here like your other contests. I stopped Pinterest after finding my own work flying around there without any click through's to my own website. Just one more way to infringe on copyright. No thanks.
no thank you

Um, you might want to weigh your thinking v. that of your members. Just a thought...
