It seems like we live in a pretty wide-open, what’s-yours-is-mine society sometimes. The distinctions between public and private rooms in the home seem to blur more with each passing generation, with basically every spot in one’s home open for guests to roam.
Growing up, bedrooms were strictly off limits for my parents’ guests when they had get togethers. It was understood that as you walked through a home, spaces became more intimate and private. It does seem as if those sorts of ideas are much rarer. We can think of plenty of get-togethers we’ve attended recently where guests were allowed to view and relax in any room in the house.
As we spend this month giving you the tips and ideas to help you create the perfect bedroom for your personality, we also pose the question to you: is your bedroom off-limit to anyone? Guests? Pets? Kids? Do you wish it were more off-limits? Does having rules help you create a more private sanctuary for yourself? Or are all off-limit rules silly? Let us know your comfort zones when it comes to the bedroom and guests (or pets or kids!) and see how your views on the matter stack up to other folks.
