As much as it pains me to feature Trumpsteaks over there, it pains me more when I hear of home-buying and selling friends having to sever ties with their real estate agent. And I've heard some horror stories (the absolute worst being an agent that I recommeded to a friend, and it turned ugly. Real ugly. Trump ugly).
The latest came from my neighbor who was so shaken by the talk she had with her agent that she told me that it paled in comparison to breaking up with her stalker-prone high school boyfriend. "I kept having to reassure him that it wasn't him, it was me. And my lack of a fat bank account!" The problem? Her real estate agent kept sending her homes despite her protests that they were all beyond her price range, and harping, "I KNOW it's out of your range, but trust me: if you love the house, you'll make ends meet!"
So, aside from the legalities (signed contracts! Commissions due! Kill fees!), we'd like to know how you've dealt with a less-than-desirable real estate agent. Did they promise to shape up, or were they gracious to give you a name of a colleague that might fit your needs/personality better?
