You may already be familiar with Yvonne Eijkenduijn and the home she shares with partner Boris and their cat Boo in Belgium--she authors her own blog Yvestown which was one of our favorite blogs of 2009. Yvonne's home is a study in white mixed with pastel pinks and blues with minimal clutter and a lot of crafty accessories. Her bathroom perfectly ties together color and texture all in one neat little package.
With crisp white as the backdrop, this small bathroom doesn't look cramped as the sink, toilet, and heater blend into the walls. The real star of the room is the pretty blue and white tiles with the red accent, which Yvonne matched perfectly with a piece of art that once hung in her office and a little mushroom figurine to balance out the visual. Beyond color, this bathroom uses wood grain to its full advantage: from the retro toilet seat, the wicker shelf unit next to the sink, to the small details like the wooden horse figurines and birch frame. Even the silver chrome of the sink and toilet fixtures get a nice tie in with the waste basket.

White Enamel Four-P...
I'm sorry this is unrelated to the post, but I gotta tell you AT, everytime I come to your site lately either my antivirus goes nuts about trojans or I get redirected to a spyware site.
i just want to put the toilet seat cover down!!!
cute floor
Shannon Ashley, that's happened to me a couple times too. Hope they fix the problem!
I love Yvonne's home! Even though she has a lot of white walls, she uses color so well that it's barely noticable.
I like this. The wood toilet seat doesn't bother me; it resonates a little with the picture frame.
What antivirus are you guys using?
I think it may be the ads?
What a beast! Visiting her blog is like going on a little vacation--so refreshing and creative. This bathroom has a perfect balance of calm, color, and crispness.
I am not seeing what is great about this picture, its a toilet with the seat up! A poster and some cutesy nic nacs, maybe its the floor for was worthy of posting? Don't get it.
I never thought I'd like a wooden toilet seat, but this is adorable.
Please put the toilet seat down!!!!!!
We had a wooden toilet seat that we thought had to go! But, this...this is nice. So clean and simple.
I feel conflicted. It's nice, it's simple, I like the pops of color. On the other hand, I feel it's a little too simple and needs more oomph!
That floor rocks my puny world, and I think the wooden toilet seat works well in the space.
I'm not bothered by the seat being up, either. Blame my errant upbringing.
anthonyn, this has happened to me on my work and home computer- Symantec on both but different versions.
What is so bad about the toilet seat being up? That's how you use it right? Doesn't bother me.
Any thoughts on where I could find this tile? It's perfect for our small bathroom renovation.
Something about the wood grain combined with the light blue just screams 80s wanna-be country style to me.
Even with the poo pooing (yeah...I know) of the wooden seat, I kinda like it. It's been out of favor for a while, so now it seems fresh.
Love the simplicity of this bathroom. Looks very clean and fresh. Although I'm not a fan of wooden toilet seats, the space would probably look a little washed out without it. Its a better choice than some kind of fabric seat cover!
I love your bathroom, the only thing I would put a white bin instead of a metal one. Another thing I am not convinced about the wooden toilet seat, I've got the same and I want to get rid of it, but it doesn't look bad with the decoration in your bathroom. Beautiful floor.
