Give the loofah a chance. The Z bench will make it worth your while. Z has a boldly fluid shape, with the arms doubling and balancing the legs, and is made from sustainably harvested and FSC-certified beech or pine and zacate. Mexican designer Emiliano Godoy (he of the biodegradable golf tee) says on his site that this design grew out of his search for "environmentally friendly cushioning materials for upholstery." In Mexico zacate is used to scrub dishes. Branch, the SF-based green design store, will sell you the Z Bench with a pressed wool cushion instead, but that feels like cheating to us. Principles have their price. And Z Bench's? $998 and up.
