We wanted a simple nursery that would be bright, light and welcoming. We bought most of our furniture from IKEA, because we were pretty appalled by the prices of nursery furniture at specialized baby stores.
We did several DIYs - homemade fabric bunting flags, a giant chalkboard, and we modified an IKEA Hemnes chest into a change table by building a change table box top that fits snugly on top (it holds a standard change pad and has an extra space to hold baby products).
We initially wanted an entire chalkboard wall, but since we're not allowed to paint at our rented apartment, we opted to paint a giant piece of particle board with chalkboard paint and mount that to the wall instead. It's a fun way to add colour to an otherwise white room - and it can be changed at any point with a new drawing.
Well done - thanks Vanessa! Readers, see more of this room at Hey Lady Grey.

I love the light fixture, where is it from?
It's from Ikea : )
It is very bright and clean. This room will be easy to change as Zachary grows. Nice job.
Very great. Love. You will probably want to lower the chalk board eventually for him to be able to draw. Cute.
that's a very good point!
Hopefully we'll move into our own house by that point though ; )
