Zen & Amisha
Mission Bay &mdash San Francisco, California
Our Mission Bay apartment is special to us as it’s our first home together since we got married six months ago. We picked this apartment because of the location and the fact that it is in a newly constructed building.
Our inspiration definitely comes from our family homes since both our moms have terrific taste. Zen’s mom is an accomplished ceramics artist and she’s always making little planters and vases for us. My mom has a keen eye for what elements work well together and I ask for her opinion every time I add something to the décor.
I come from a long line of green thumbs so our house plants are an integral part of the décor. If it wasn’t for Zen’s curating, our apartment would have been overrun with plants. When we first moved here, we had a lot of beige, black and white in the house so the plants and colorful planters injected some much needed color into the room.
While our view isn’t great, the southern exposure means that our apartment is filled with sunlight at all times of the day. This coupled with high ceilings makes our apartment look much larger than its 750 sq. feet.
We both have a strong preference for keeping bulky furniture to a minimum and we had to make the hard decision to forgo a dining table. This worked out rather well since we have house guests quite often and the dining space is where we set up our airbed.
For now, we’re taking a (short) break from decorating and focusing on enjoying our apartment with friends and family.
Thanks, Zen & Amisha !
