Zid Zid Kids

We came upon these colorful cushions in an art store in NYC. Zid Zid Kids makes a variety of pillows including these unique one of a kind bird cushions. A limited edition, set of six designs wil be randomly chosen for you if you're like us and can't resist the thought of these strewn around your home.

Inspired by their move from Cambridge, Massachusetts to Marrakech, Morocco, married couple Julie Klear and Moulay Essakalli created Zid Zid Kids in 2003. Both are artists and designers and have fused their own design sensibilities with the artistry of Marrakech.

Actually, what first caught our eye at the art store was a pillow like this little elephant. He is strikingly different from the bright and colorfully designed Zid Zid Kid pillows, but this guy's white for a reason. For $32 you can purchase a "Draw On Me Cushion" shaped like an elephant, camel, or zebra. Made of cotton flannel and vintage buttons for eyes, you can use any material- washable or permanent, to make your own creation. When the kids get a little older, they can even use it to practice sewing. A great activity for a winter's day.
