The February Issue of Domino features a studio/music room that belongs to Zooey Deschanel. We were immediately intrigued by the blue walls - dark yet vibrant. They feel very fresh - the antithesis of the white box! Jump below for a longer look:

Wall to wall! I'm convinced we'll be seeing more and more of it...
The lampshade is a much needed shot of red.
Artwork looks great against this color.
The overall vibe is a little bit traditional due to the chair rail, painted trim and striped cotton wall covering.

White Enamel Flatwa...
really really dig those walls!
Cute place, pretty unassuming. Man, she cracked me up on Weeds.
I love that piano
You know I totally thought she stared in Bones. I guess that's her sister, Emily. I don't watch the show often and I didn't realize she had a sister.
I love that piano too. Clean lines paired with gorgeous wood. That girl has amazing taste!
I want the dog portriat. I like the blue not crazy for the white trim..reminds me of somebody wearing a beautiful ballgown with white hightop sneakers or something like that. She is cute.
portrait ^
The walls in my library/dining room are just about that same shade of blue. To brighten things up I have poster-sized prints of extreme close-up photographs I took of some flowers in my garden.
Upholstered walls? Looks fantastic, what a great idea for a music room.
I actually don't like it...
I hate when I see "celebrity" homes and it looks like some designer came in and made the whole thing, and feels devoid of any personal character... This feels "sailor" themed or for some reason for a child? The portrait image makes her look like she is somehow too big for the room, all the pieces appear small. Maybe its the low molding? It could also be that I am not a fan of 'red, white & blue.'
Surprised by this interior. I had her pegged as totally MCM but this room is rather eclectic in it's fiftiesness. I love Zoey and her music. She's so much like Dusty Springfield or Tammy Wynette.
I'm not a fan of blue, but this looks lush. Nicely done...
Love that color blue, but hate the white trim and fugly wallpaper.
eh... I expected something less matchy matchy...
Seems like the blue would get old over time. The wood from the piano and guitars softens the intensity of the blue a bit - maybe some horizontal wood planks on a wall would be nice -- something like this music room:

I want to see the lamp shade the same yellow as Zooey's skirt! That would be killer.
carpet? carpet! ncnovice, judes, and madsarah pretty much nailed it otherwise.
I like the blue paint, but nothing else is really my taste. It does feel a little too grandma in parts, especially considering the floors are carpet.
