If I could live inside an IKEA store for the rest of my life, I totally would. Within its four blue-and-yellow walls, IKEA sells nearly everything you need to live a flat-packed Swedish life. And for those almost-necessities that IKEA doesn't market? Well, we're pretty darn sure you can hack some IKEA product to fit the bill, just like this dish-drainer-turned-floating-laptop-stand.
The floating ASKER organization system has long been a home office staple, but we've never seen it used like this. It turns out a 13-inch laptop is a perfect fit for the ASKER line's foldable dish drainer.
Flickr member bsag propped up their 13-inch white MacBook with a few polystyrene blocks onto the right-angled floating dish drainer. The result is a clean, unobtrusive laptop stand that doesn't take up any precious desk top real estate.
Bsag also mentions that because it's made of aluminum and slatted, it helps to cool the laptop. Brilliant, right?
Unfortunately, we can't find it on IKEA's website (Anybody know for sure if it's discontinued?). But you can search the web and find re-sellers, like this third-party seller at Amazon.com selling just the dish drainer for $49.50.
