A standard dining table is typically 30″ high, so you’d want your settee to be roughly 18″ from floor to where the seat starts to ensure you and guests can eat comfortably without feeling like you need to sit on a phone book (or on the flip side, you keep zinging your kneecap on the underside of the table). A few inches lower or higher should still be ok, but beware of something that varies too far from that threshold. Also, getting in and out of the settee should be easy, so anything with high or bulky arms could be tricky to maneuver without enough space.
