Dining Room Shake Up: 15 Attractive Settees (Under $600)
Like a sofa for your dining room: We are huge fans of shaking things up when it comes to furniture choices, especially if it adds enormous style points to a room and is multifunctional to boot! If you’re looking to break out of the vanilla table + chair mold in your breakfast nook or eating area, want to up the cozy factor or simply are just short on space (it can double as a love seat for you or guests when not feasting!) consider the dining settee your new best (furniture) friend.
You might be thinking: What’s the difference between a dining settee and a love seat? Though at face value, they are quite similar (and heck, you don’t need to constrain your search to the dining variety and could use an actual sofa or love seat if you wanted!), it’s really about the seat height and functionality.
A standard dining table is typically 30″ high, so you’d want your settee to be roughly 18″ from floor to where the seat starts to ensure you and guests can eat comfortably without feeling like you need to sit on a phone book (or on the flip side, you keep zinging your kneecap on the underside of the table). A few inches lower or higher should still be ok, but beware of something that varies too far from that threshold. Also, getting in and out of the settee should be easy, so anything with high or bulky arms could be tricky to maneuver without enough space.
Without further ado, we rounded up 15 of our favorite dining settees to add a hefty dash of unexpected style to your home, all under $600. Scroll through (and enjoy!) to the end for tips and inspirations for making this look work for you.
I’ve long been a fan of the Tolix bistro chair, so it’s no wonder I’m crushing on this dining bench with its classic French style. The wood seat would also be a breeze to wipe up if you have any messy eaters.
The sunny yellow print on this petite settee would look great paired with any table (though a round white Saarinen Tulip-type would be our pick) to liven up a breakfast nook!
This armless option would be easy to slide in and out of, so it’s a great pick for a small or tricky space. The turned legs and turquoise-and-brown striped fabric offer a classic look that would work in numerous decor schemes.
I couldn’t resist the playful, retro fabric on the Olivia settee. At 52″ wide and with a comfy pillow seat and back, it’ll be hard to leave the table once meal time is over.
The Windsor chair is a classic silhouette that, though it never went out of style, is popping up all over the design-o-sphere. It’s sturdy, nostalgic (who didn’t have a parent or grandparent with these sitting around the house?) and a bit of a chameleon—it would display just as beautifully in a modern home as it would a rustic abode.

Hair pin legs and camel-hued vinyl for the win! This retro settee is a top pick if you’re looking to add some mid-century style to your home. Plus, the vinyl is spill-proof!
Another mod pick, but this time with upholstered legs. The cut out in the back of the bench makes the design of the piece much more interesting from behind if it’s not being situated up against a wall.
With its tufting, scalloped top edge and wingback design, this gray settee is the epitome of regal. The backrest is nice and high so you can freely throw yourself back without abandon to digest and stay a while.
I like to consider this loveseat the seating equivalent of a pretty hug. The back of the piece has some nice nailhead detailing, which makes it good-looking from any angle.
If a headboard and a bench were to have a furniture baby, this would most definitely be it. The shimmery silver velvet is a nice, luxurious touch.

Love tufting but want something a little sleeker and more modern? This banquette is for you. It also has solid reviews from satisfied buyers.
Inky blue velvet-upholstered furniture has to be the star of the design world as of late if ever there were one. If you’re not quite ready to take the indigo sofa plunge, a navy settee in your dining room is a great place to start.
Any furniture that has secret storage is a winner in my book. The Coventry also comes in some fun colors and patterns if you’re willing to spend a little more, and can be easily customized and expanded to fit your dining nook with the addition of corner pieces and add-on benches.
This wood settee is a great and easy way to add a global touch to your dining room. The seat is a little low (at just under 17″), but the addition of a cushion will get you right where you need to be for comfortable dining.
Can I get a Yaass! for the no-holds-barred explosive print here? Never underestimate what you can find for your grown-up home at a children’s decor brand. This particular fabric, as well as two others that are more muted but still lovely, are on sale, coming in just shy of the $600 limit.
