“Art is so affordable!” said no one, ever. Well, “no one” was wrong. Etsy is, of course, a tremendous resource for unique home decor finds—especially art. The only problem is, it’s a sea of good and bad. So, we took the liberty of doing the heavy surfing for you, and picked out 15 of our favorite black-and-white prints (some you can download and print out yourself for as low as $3!!) Now that’s worthy of a double exclamation point, don’t you think?

To show off our picks, we combined them with backdrops of simple yet character-filled wallpaper by Hygge & West; check each photo’s shopping list for info on the wallpaper pattern, along with links to each of the prints.

Mix and Match

To put together a black-and-white gallery wall, make sure to have a mix of patterns, typography, photography, graphics, and of course, don’t forget to have a little fun (you can get away with a 16” x 20” print of a pineapple when it’s a subdued grayscale.)

Frame of Reference

Another plus for going monotone with your art is that you can use any frame you want without worrying about clashing colors or styles. A chic look, however, is sticking to mostly simple black and white frames (some with mats, some without) and peppering in metallics, woods, and—if you’re feeling bold—some neons. Anything goes! Tip: Hit up your local thrift store for vintage finds to add even more personality.
