#16: Brian & Luke's Post-War Paradise

Apr 20, 2007

Names: Brian and Luke
Location: West End of Vancouver, B.C.,Canada
Size & Type: 600 sq.ft. 1-bedroom apt in a 1950's building

Favorite resources: My store (Yaletown Sofa), Ikea, and Value Village; all great places to shop!!

Pitch: It's a small cool 1950's one bedroom in the West End of Vancouver, a block from Stanley Park and two from the beach. Our style is a bit eclectic but based around a 1940's/1950's design style.

Pitch Cont'd: We have a 1940's armoire that hides the TV/stereo, the bed was Luke's parents when they were first married (bought second hand then!!) but we fitted it out with an Ikea storage bed frame that fits perfectly in the original head/foot boards and rails. We made the mirror in the bedroom ourselves.

Pitch Cont'd: The sofa in the living room is a sofabed from my store and one wall is a 'library' of Ikea bookcases outfitted with crown moldings and a cute electric fireplace for ambiance. The 'dining room' is outfitted with a 1940's dresser doubling as a buffet and an Ikea drop leaf table (we had 14 people for dinner last Thanksgiving!)It's a great place to entertain.

Your favorite element: Our super comfy 'library' chair covered in a fab damask...a curl-up-and-read-a-book kinda chair!!
