It was an organizer's dream. There was a place for everything and everything was in its place. Here are 3 easy organizing techniques we picked up that you can apply at home. Learn more after the jump.

  • First, use the back of a door or an entry way into a space to hang items. Always be on the lookout for underutilized spaces to hang clothing or other household items. The inside of a closet door is always a safe bet for scarves, belts or ties.

  • Secondly, we love using boxes, decorative baskets, and hidden storage spaces to corral blankets, books, or DVDs. The great thing about baskets is their portability making them also great for projects that travel from room to room. We love keeping a decorative basket in each room of our apartment for items that need to go back to their original home. When the basket is full, just grab it and distribute its contents to their appropriate homes.

  • Last but definitely not least is our favorite organizing tip--go vertical. In this first picture, going vertical allows the homeowner to display their entire collection of pictures while giving the room a feeling of grandeur. Hanging the curtains from the ceiling to the floor also makes the space seem larger. In the adjacent picture, the shoes are being hung with a vertical shoe organizer. This example saves closet floor space and makes the shoes much more accessible.
