Location: Salt Lake City, Ut
Type: 3 bedroom, owned
Why I use color:
I grew up in a house with all white walls, I was never allowed to paint my room as a kid. I rented for years where I ran into more white walls and rules about painting. When I finally bought my own house there would be no holding me back! I love the mood and individuality you can create with color. I finally live in a space that feels like home.
2 Good color tips:
1. Know what mood you're trying to evoke in a room and research the colors that will help with that.
2. Don't be afraid! Don't be afraid to do something out of the ordinary or something against the 'rules'. I think the reason our walls were always white is that my mother was afraid she'd do something 'wrong' by painting something the wrong color… if you don't like it you can always change it.
2 Good color resources:
1. Nature. Look at things you love and derive a palette from that.
2. Magazines. Find photographs of other interiors you love that evoke the feelings you want in your home and go with it.
