Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: This was my first studio on my own in New York. If you’ve ever lived in New York, there is something special about having your own place, especially the first. I lived in the heart of the East Village across from Tompkins Square park, it was the quintessential New York studio. I’m a documentary filmmaker, and I shared the majority of my time in this studio with my then-girlfriend and soon-to-be wife. You could say our relationship grew even closer living in 250 square feet.

How do you identify? Is your identity reflected in your home? The tenant before me was an artist, and I like to think of myself also as an artist, my medium being film. The tenant who is living there now, who took the lease over from me, is an actor. This is very much a studio for creatives, and I hope it always will be.

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Light, bright, contemporary, eclectic

What is your favorite room and why? It’s all really one room, but I loved the fire escape. I’d hang out with friends up there, drink coffee, read books, etc.

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? My rubber plant.
