#4- Lee's Small Smart Space

Name: C. Lee
Location: Santa Monica, CA
Size & Type: 228 sq. ft. bi-level studio

Favorite resource:My absolute favorite resource would have to be my local furniture/furnishing stores located in Santa Monica and Venice¬óMain Street & Abbot Kinney offer a great variety of inspiration and ideas.

Pitch:I squeezed my life into under 290 sq.ft! Upon reflection, I feel that I have a very unique small space that maximizes the efficiency of the floor layout while still being aesthetically pleasing and comfortable to live in. I blended a living room, bedroom, closet, library, entertainment center, and work station all on one floor.

Pitch Cont'd:

The greatest challenge was how to organize these living quarters in such a limited amount of space, so I needed to think in creative, fresh ways like integrating bookshelves to hold not only library books and accessories, but to make it more functional, purposeful, and resourceful to house my computer, television, speakers, and audio cd player too.

Your favorite element:

My favorite element in my home is definitely the ‘openness’ of the space. Since the upper level is completely open with no walls or doors separating the floor plan, that enables me to move and transition from my different designated spaces easily and efficiently—working, sleeping, dressing, organizing, reading, etc. I move from my wardrobe closet, to my reading chair, to my bookshelves, to my lounge couch, and my bed all in one open arena of space.
