#41 – TJ’s Rich Reds and Funky Greens
Location: San Francisco
Type: I own a 1 bdrm
Why I use color:
This is my first home! I decided to paint because frankly I could! Living with white walls as a renter for many, many years provided me with a strong appreciation for color! White is a blank canvas, just calling for color. I was of course a little nervous about putting the wrong color on the walls… but it’s paint… you can always paint over it! . . .
. . .The colors I have used have really warmed up my little home. Using color has given my place a rich, homey warmth. I have an array of rich reds and funky greens. The greens range from soft khaki to bright cheery chartreuse! It’s still a work in process, not all my walls are painted, but I am definitely getting there!
2 good color tips:
1. Fickle with colors? I can be a little fickle so I have tried to pick color combos that I can swap out one for a whole new look. I toy with the idea of swapping the red out for some turquoise hints.
2. Color and Furniture – I have mostly wood furniture – Wood goes with any color while still adding to the richness and warmth!
2 good color resources:
1. Since this is my first home I really consume decorator shows and magazines galore! They are a great source of ideas!
2. Being in the Bay Area, there is a plethora of design, thrift stores, antique shops, boutique shops and Craigslist (of course) – All are great resources for color and other decorating ideas!
