Don't lose your favorite t-shirts to wear and tear; repurpose them into new creations with ideas from Megan Nicolay. It was hard to narrow it down to only 5 great re-inventions of the t-shirt, but here are my top picks in no particular order:

1. The ever-innovative t-shirt apron to spice up the kitchen!
2. The re-invented tote bag
3. A spiderman-inspired t-shirt perfect for a stylish Halloween
4. The heart shirt that can modernize any old shirt
5. The t-shirt tie. Perhaps a bit more energy intensive, but how fun? A great solution for shirts with holes!

Megan is the author of two books titled Generation T: 108 Ways to Transform a T-Shirt and Generation T: Beyond Fashion. You can find the patterns for these fun ideas on Megan's website, generation-t.com, or in one of her books. The books host a large variety of styles and ideas that range from no-sew to advanced. I have found them to be a great way to get involved with sewing while using materials at hand.
