Items used for the project and favorite part of the storage solution:

This is a very small 8×10 ft bedroom with a tiny closet. I put up a clothes rod and one shelf under it (that can be removed when he grows). The shelf holds vintage school locker baskets for his jeans, sweat pants and shorts. On the upper shelf in the colorful boxes are out of season clothes, and clothes in larger sizes waiting for him to wear.

On the floor on his closet is a small locker for toys, and the dog crate. That huge crate holds his 10 lb dog at night. I also took off the folding doors that pinched his fingers and put up curtains on a dowel. Now, he knows that the dog will protect him at night from “monsters” and has no problems sleeping by himself! Storage and a good nights sleep in one solution!

What’s your best storage tip for families with children?:

Just make storage fun- and really talk to them about what they want in their room. My son, even at 3, has quite a point of view about how he wants his room and his stuff.

Thanks for your entry, Lori Jo!
