Why we have a crush on this property

Featuring one-of-a-kind homes for sale is pretty much the name of the game here in Apartment Therapy’s real estate section, and this pagoda-style home in the hills of Massachusetts’ Berkshires region is nothing if not unique.

Designed by architecture firm Metcalfe Associates, the tiered-tower home is perched above the landscape, built with timber from trees on site. And what a site it is—the property stretches to 41 acres (that’s over 30 football fields) and offers frontage on a river called Bronson Brook, where the home’s new owners can take a refreshing dip in the summer or fish for trout in the fall.

Inside, the three-bedroom, two-bathroom home abounds with rustic touches, like tree trunk beams and supports. The kitchen boasts custom cabinetry and open shelving, while in the living areas, walls of windows look out over the landscape.

A spiral staircase connects each level to the next. It’s a fitting way to reach every singular nook and cranny, from the tiled sinks in the bathrooms to the built-in shelving throughout. Other perks for the detail-oriented include roof tiles imported from Spain and hand-built mahogany windows and doors. One important thing to note: the home’s new owners will have to complete a few projects before moving in, like finishing off some of the walls.
