If you toured Jen’s vintage Oakland home, you know that she’s inspired by the warm, natural style of the ’70s. She creates an inviting, cozy home with mainly items she found at estate sales and flea markets, and her wardrobe is just as much driven by her affection for thrift shopping. Read about the things that inspire her fashion sense and some of her best flea market finds below.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

Does your personal style influence your home style? Yes. Definitely. I love a fall color palette, both have to be comfortable and feminine and both have a strong 70’s influence with a modern twist.

Describe what you would wear on a regular day: Vintage 90’s guess jeans, some sort of band, skate or motorcycle tee (usually inside out and tucked in or tied), a heeled boot, bamboo earrings, script necklace, and a signature red lip.

Describe your favorite outfit: I like feminine timeless outfits with an edge: 70’s bells with a tight tee, or a psychedelic print dress with a motorcycle jacket.

What are three favorite items or accessories in your closet? 1) Old oversized men’s Levis denim jacket I kept from an ex. It’s perfectly worn in; 2) Solid black tight turtle neck. It goes with anything and everything; 3) Gold jewelry, like bamboo earrings and delicate gold chains.

Who are your fashion style icons? Lisa Bonnet, Jane Birkin, Bianca Jagger, Stevie Nicks, Nico

What is one of the best scores you’ve ever found? I love wearing vintage slips and nighties while I’m relaxing at home. I recently found a vintage rose-colored YSL slip with the original tags still attached for $3 at Alemany Flea Market in San Francisco.

Best jeans: I have a collection of high-waisted cropped ’90s Guess jeans. They are absolutely perfect!

Coolest sneakers: I recently started wearing Nike Cortez and Adidas Superstar shoes, but honestly my favorite sneakers of all time are my slip on black and white checkered Vans that are totally destroyed but somehow go with everything.

Signature scent: It changes. Currently, during the day, it’s TokyoMilk Light: Awaken Within. At night time, my favorite is Miss Dior.

Go-to source for style inspiration: Definitely old movies from the 60’s and 70’s!
