A Bag That Can Take The Heat

A Bag That Can Take The Heat

I'm always on the lookout for a good bag that can go anywhere. I'm not big on switching things out, so finding one that can act like a messenger bag on a bike ride, be carried by hand in a store and still be large enough to carry home a few groceries — especially when it's made from a recycled firefighter's coat.

Etsy seller Clever Scene has been hard at work for several years creating handmade bags from used garments. Currently her store is filled with pieces made from old suit coats and denim. She chooses materials that will be long wearing, ensuring your purchase will be around for many more years to come.

This bag is priced at $459, but the rest of the items in her store are a little more budget friendly. If they're still out of your price range, make sure you take a second look next time you cruise through your local thrift store. Many of the materials that aren't exactly cool to wear (temperature wise, not fashion/trend wise) are quite sturdy and can be used to recover small furniture pieces or craft with. Happy hunting!
