A Better Way to Start Fires: Firestones

A Better Way to Start Fires: Firestones

Far more eco-friendly than most fire-starters, a Fire Stone makes starting a fire convenient, clean, easy, green and nearly infinitely reusable. The only thing that needs replenishing is the occasional bottle of lamp oil. All that and it looks great on the hearth (if you're lucky enough to have one).

Most Fire Stone kits include a durable pot, a reusable firestone, and fuel such as candle or lamp oil. The Adirondack FireStone company handcrafts their ceramic pots and has a cold rolled steel handle attached to their lighting tip. It's rather pricey at $140, but rest assured there is a less expensive substitute the "Cape Cod" FireStarter available at Gardeners.
