We love finding small or awkward spaces that might normally be overlooked, but are being used in ingenious ways. Our friend Chancie created a family heirloom wall in the tiny hallway that leads to her bedroom where she displays black & white photos above a cabinet she inherited from her grandmother.
She decided to paint the wall a dark color because she felt like the black frames were too busy against the white wall, making the photographs difficult to see. The first black paint that she tried looked cheap so she mixed it with a light mint green that she had left over from painting another room. The result was a more sophisticated dark gray that lets the frames blend in with the background and the treasured images easier to see.
