A Costco Playhouse Gets a Charming Scandi Makeover
Name: The Three Amigos (3 year old, and twin 5 year olds)
Location: Vancouver, Canada
After Melissa snatched up a pretty cute playhouse from Costco, she started dreaming up an adorable upgrade. Life got in the way, as it so often does, so it took awhile for the playhouse to get an upgrade. Combine one weekend, a super creative mom, white paint and elbow grease and you get the kind of playhouse that childhood dreams are made of.
From Melissa: Any parent who has stepped into a Costco store and seen their child gravitate towards the playhouse will fully understand how you go to shop for groceries and walk out with the playhouse. That’s why, like so many other families, we walked out with one. I always had the vision to turn this little house into a revamped Scandinavian-inspired cafe, but after my husband spent hours building it, it was left unchanged for a couple of years!
One long weekend, it was time. I removed all of the curved features as well as the trim and door. After lightly sanding the house, I brushed on three coats of white paint and left it to dry. The trim and hinges were spray painted, the door screwed back on and then the rest was purely fun decorating and now we have created this special place that our three kids LOVE to play.
