A Cuckoo Clock for a Kid

Q: It’s only August and my 3-year-old son has informed me that he plans on asking Santa for a cuckoo clock. He’s been obsessed for awhile so I realize he’s not likely to change his mind before December. I am really not a fan of the Black-Forest-Cuckoo-Clock aesthetic and really don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on a passing whim that will annoy me for years to come. Anybody out there know where I can find a child’s cuckoo clock? A second alternative would be a good children’s book about cuckoo clocks?

Editor: I immediately thought of decoylab’s understated homage to the cuckoo clock (pictured) which could be a compromise or a cheat. Readers – what ideas do you have? Does anyone know any books about cuckoo clocks?
