A Floating Entertainment Center

A Floating Entertainment Center

We're not unfamiliar with floating workspaces at Unplggd, but what about a floating entertainment center? We're not talking just shelves here - we're talking speakers, tv... the works. Well, almost everything. We imagine the subwoofer would probably take some sheetrock with it if anyone tried to mount it on the wall with the rest of the home theater goods.

There a couple of benefits in keeping everything off the floor. First, it looks clean and minimal. Especially compared to all of the wire jungles that's all too common in households today, it's a refreshing and welcomed change.

A second benefit would be that it encourages cleaning. An iRobot Roomba would surely benefit from having the furniture lifted off the floors, but in general, dust, cat hair, and other floor undesirables, when visible to feel like part of the square footage you're walking around in, will receive the dust mop more often than not.

This is probably why we love floating desks so much. While the home entertainment center are occasionally neglected, we've found that the space behind and under people's desks are far, far worse. So best get to clearing out those office tumbleweeds before it becomes a health hazard!
