Kimberly Demmy created a space this is bright, hospitable and crisp. After a pretty major renovation to almost every part of her client’s home, Kimberly set about filling the space with smart fixtures and eye-catching furniture.
From the designer: This home had not been updated since the 1970s and the new owners were excited to completely renovate this condo to their desired aesthetic. We were selected to make all architectural and design upgrades and interior decoration.
To achieve the desired result the main floor was completely renovated and opened up by removing a wall that blocked off the kitchen, distracting beam work was moved into the ceiling and the step-up stair treads were moved back to make the dining room more appropriately sized and allow the living room to gain some much needed floor space. The changes made on the main floor created a beautiful open floor plan that is both functional and comfortable to inhabit.
Nothing on the second floor was left untouched, with the exception of the wood beam work on the ceilings in the bedrooms. All bathrooms and bedrooms were completely updated and a laundry room was creatively added from unused space in the guest bathroom.
Overall light interior finishes where selected to give an open and bright feeling and black hardware was used throughout the space to punctuate it. Funky accessories were selected to layer the space with warmth and depth. The end result is a sophisticated and chic space that looks lived in and collected rather than staged.
