Forget about gourmet chefs and nap rooms and ping pong tables. An office in New Mexico has possibly the best work perk of them all: a kitten library. Yes, you read that right.
Here's how it works: employees at a county office building in Las Cruces can select a kitten from the kitten library, and take it back to their desk with them for a few minutes of love and cuddles. The cats, which live in a kitty condo in the lobby, are from a local animal shelter. So everyone wins: the employees get a few minutes of rest and relaxation — because whose stressful day at work wouldn't be improved by a few minutes of kitty cuddles? — and the cats often wind up finding new homes. To date, more than 100 kittens have been adopted from the library.
I'm definitely going to lobby for getting one of these in the Apartment Therapy office. Stay tuned.
