A Modern Moroccan Ryad

A Modern Moroccan Ryad

Dutch designer Yvonne Hulst and Spanish designer Alberto Cortes have a small empire of gorgeously decorated holiday rental homes in romantic places like Bali, Morocco, and Ibiza. The Ryad Dyor is their Marrakech retreat, and just checking out the photos is like a mini vacation.

The traditional courtyard building is over 300 years old, but it's been updated with modern grays, browns, and ochres. Intricate patterning is everywhere in Marrakech, and the Ryad Dyor has its fair share, but for every lacy, detailed metal grill there's an open expanse of blank wall — in other words, the designers were careful to balance traditional influences with modern sensibilities. There's also a nice mix of African and European furnishings, textiles, and accessories.

For more information, check out the Ryad Dyor's website and Facebook page.
