A New Use for Vanilla Extract

A New Use for Vanilla Extract

If Setting Up Home for you includes interior painting, try following this tip to help minimize odors:

Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to each gallon of paint. If you're using a very light or white paint, use clear vanilla or lemon extract. Apparently, the extracts will help soak up the paint smell of the paint.

We just finished painting, so we didn't get to try this. But, we used Aura paint by Benjamin Moore and found the smell completely inoffensive - more like play dough than that fume-y paint odor.

Has anyone tried this before? Let us know below how it was with your firsthand experience!
