There is absolutely no need for your bathroom to be blah. Grab these three things (you probably already have them around the house) and make this room stand out!

A Real, Beautiful Chair

Real furniture puts the “room” in “bathroom.” Borrow a dining or sitting chair from another room, or snatch one up just for the bath. The upholstered chair and pillow in this London bathroom from Houzz turns a utilitarian room into a miniature oasis.

Lots of Artwork

Big, small–it doesn’t matter. Every piece of art you can add to the bathroom has the effect of boosting its visual interest, exponentially. That’s why this bathroom featured on Design*Sponge is so cool – there’s, like, a hundred framed pieces in here.

An Interesting Rug

What do you think of when you read “bathroom rugs”? Probably those super plush mats you can pick up nearly anywhere, yeah? Well, skip those, and snag yourself an eye-catching rug for the bathroom to add a more homey feel, like in this room designed by Amber Interiors. Hint: Step outside of the boundaries of the bath aisle while you’re shopping.

And one more… for extra credit

If you can, paint. A bold color on the bathroom walls makes a world of difference in what is usually a quite tiny room. It makes tile and permanent fixtures pop, and offers a backdrop to the other three pieces above. If your landlord will allow, this is one easy shortcut to a more beautiful bathroom.
