Celebrity homes are often the result of pro designer work, but in Brooke Shields' case, its a 100% DIY effort. She did all the decorating herself (based on a "dream house" file she kept for years) and it looks fantastic. It's light, bright, pretty and straight up happy.
What struck me when checking out the sneak peek photos of her home at Better Homes & Gardens (Brooke is on their September issue cover) is how livable it all is, without being dowdy. It's family friendly but still definitely capital-D-decorated. I'd say that it aims for and achieves a good balance of glamour with coziness. It's comfort chic!
I think what makes this look work is the embrace of color, from the hot pink and red chair twins in the sitting area to the upbeat, unexpected blue accents on the classic cafe chairs in the kitchen; these pure, upbeat brights make the otherwise fairly traditional decor choices come alive.
