Jarret had lived in Hong Kong for years when he relocated to a studio apartment near Gramercy Park in Manhattan. An interior designer by trade, he’s inspired by his travels and “the serene essence of contemporary Asian design.” His studio’s color palette is lilac, brown and gray, with metallic accents and a modern sensibility. New high-gloss walnut floors reflect light and add sophistication.

Jarret writes: “The room’s layout is oriented toward the studio’s best feature, its Manhattan view. The living area is designed for entertaining. Custom kitchen cabinetry in walnut takes advantage of the entire height of the space. The sheer curtains in front of the sleeping alcove (with custom-built bed) can be drawn for privacy. A combination desk and bookshelf saves space.”
