Ten feet may not seem like a lot of space to squeeze a home into, but that’s reckoning without the ingenuity of these Asheville homeowners, who looked up when they decided to convert their garage into a cozy guesthouse. And the best part is, since it’s an AirBnB rental, you can stay there and experience it for yourself.

The home’s bottom level, previously the garage, has been converted into a cozy kitchen. A spiral staircase leads upstairs.

On the home’s main level, two easy chairs make for a cozy living room. There’s a tiny bathroom here, too; it’s accessed by a door on the left (in this photo) and has a toilet and shower.

The sink is tucked away in a little nook next to the front door. It’s an unusual but very efficient arrangement. (The door swings out, not in, to save you from getting whacked in the head while brushing your teeth.)

Up the stairs is a cozy bedroom, which even manages to squeeze in a little closet (just to the right of the bed).

It might be a bit of a misnomer to say that this little house feels spacious — it’s definitely small, but in all the best ways. It’s charming and cozy without being cramped — and you’d definitely get a lot of exercise from going up and down those stairs.

Want to try it out for yourself? This little abode, called the Birdhouse, is located in Asheville, North Carolina, and you can rent it on AirBnB. You can also read more about the house on Small House Bliss.
