Quietly hewing to their own philosophy, Atlas Industries was started by Joseph Fratesi and Thomas Wright in Brooklyn and now has an eastern and a western studio. That’s good for us, as their design sensibility continues to break any provincial mold and surprise with a combination of warm, rich woods and dark, strong steel elements. And their AB3 bed is a fine example.
The AB3 is a modern take on the sleigh bed. It has a softness and a monumental feel at the same time. Featured in last year’s Sunset Breeze House, the AB3 starts at $4500 (queen), but also comes in a laminate finish for $3500. Made with either cold-rolled or stainless steel, the wood is fully radiused and comes in cherry, maple or walnut woods.
