Statement ceilings are having a moment and it's not hard to see why. According to Pinterest's end-of-the-year report, pins of statement ceiling are up +310% and show no signs of slowing into the new year. Bold, chic and more affordable at times than say, painting an entire room, upgrading a ceiling with wallpaper, paint, or architectural moldings makes a big interior statement that is sure to transform even the dullest of spaces.

To prove the point, we gathered some of the most inspiring statement ceilings we found across the web. From bright blue beauties to coffered styles, read ahead for a few of our favorite ceiling designs from all of Pinterest.

We've seen bright blue painted ceilings popping up all over Pinterest and glossy magazines lately and we're not surprised. Bold, rich, but refined, a deep blue ceiling is a clever way to use a dark color in a small room without closing up the space. We love this regal blue bedroom ceiling from an 19th century New Orleans home featured on Design*Sponge.

Whether with a pale floral pattern or a bold black-and-white print, wallpapered ceilings, like this one designed by Kelly Deck Design, are an easy way to make a big statement in an otherwise neutral room.

Simple but impactful, striped ceilings are a stylish way to turn a ceiling into a room's centerpiece. You can make your own with either wallpaper (like we saw in Violeta's home tour on Apartment Therapy) or paint, and let the stripes serve as the color palette for the rest of the room.

A retro trend that perseveres for a reason, wood paneled walls and more importantly for the sake of this article, ceilings, are a wonderful way to ground a room with a soaring ceiling and add serious warmth and cozy vibes like Emma Chapman from A Beautiful Mess did in her dining room, while incorporating texture and natural elements.

Looking for a simple way to make a big impact in an all-white room? A black-painted ceiling, like this one on 47 Park Avenue, provides an eye-catching contrast to muted white walls while helping frame and define the space.

In search of something a little bit more imaginative than the traditional painted statement ceiling? Use super strong double-sided tape to install mirrors across it, like Lauren did in her Chicago apartment, and score your very own mixed media ceiling display.

If you're after ways to use a vibrant paint color in your bedroom but scared you'll overwhelm the space, look no further. Brightly painted ceilings make rooms appear taller (like this one by Roger and Chris) by drawing up the eye, so you don't have to worry about cramping up a small space the same way painting the walls would.

Of course, if you're lucky enough to have an architectural ceiling—think: vaulted, domed, and coffered—then you won't have to do much to make a statement. Play up an already coffered ceiling by painting it a bright hue or incorporate your own fancy moldings and millwork for a one-of-a-kind ceiling display like this one from Better Homes & Gardens.
