One day, fingers crossed, many of us will be in the market to buy something whether it's a condo, a house or a co-op. But, if you've ever used a real estate agent to look for anything in LA, you'll often find that your idea of a stylin' pad clashes with that of the typical real estate agent's idea. Charming means small; quaint equals broken down. Cross those two off your list and you're left with faux-Chateaus and utilitarian tract homes and, if you're lucky, a Craftsman fixer-upper. Enter Allen Roth. His blog showcases his pick of some of the incredible offerings around town (yeah, we're talking real estate porn) as well as restaurants, stores and clothing and products that inform the language of design. Here's a guy to go house-hunting with.
Billing himself as "Los Angeles Real Estate for the Design Conscious," we are especially intrigued by a look inside some of the more arresting properties we've noticed around, like the Chateau Colline on the eastern end of the Wilshire Corridor or the John Lautner Wolff house (check out that awesome staircase!).
