During our Escapes month on Ohdeedoh, we are posting great photos and tips for traveling with children from our readers. Please check here for all the details. Hope to hear from you soon.
Cade and his parents enjoy their yearly trip to Frio River -- it's a family tradition which Cade has enjoyed since he was a year old. His mom, Lacey, shares her tips with us below the jump...
The city and location the photo was taken in:
Your favorite baby or child-friendly activity there: Our favorite kid activities there are throwing rocks (exciting stuff), and tubing down the river. This year was too low to tube, so we had fun in the swimming hole and playing on the rope swing.
Your best tip or words of wisdom for traveling with kids: Our best tip for traveling is probably to remember what it was to be a kid. Even though throwing rocks for hours at a time, or trying to catch fish in a net from the dollar store, or even jumping off the rope swing over and over with no break can seem a little boring...it is such a memory worth making for the kids. So, just try to remember what it was to be 3 and how much fun it was to stand on the bank of the river and learn how to skip a rock.
Your favorite way to make it feel like home: The way we made this particular trip feel like home was to take some family with us! This is the yearly vacation for my side of the family, so my parents, and my brother and his family were all there with us. Also, bring your own blanket from home!
An item you MUST take with you when traveling: We seem to have a lot of must take items... but one of the most valuable is our portable DVD player. It is a pretty long trip to the river, and even longer with a potty training 3 year old and a 5 month old. After a while, we all needed a break! Baby Einstein was able to deliver!
