I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Sconces are an amazing addition to any room of the home, and they’re much easier to install than you might think—even if you’re a renter! The key is finding the right design for your space, whether you prefer mod globe lights, vintage sconces from the flea market, or something else entirely.

Wicker, cane, and rattan items are having a major moment right now, and I personally can’t get enough. I came across these stunning wicker sconces on Serena & Lily’s website a few months back and was of course drawn to them immediately (honestly, I love practically everything the store offers). But while it was love at first site, I couldn’t exactly justify spending over $200 a pop for bedside sconces that may or may not make it to my next rental home.

Black Swiveling Wall Sconce, $64.99 from World Market

I took to browsing the internet for other options, but there weren’t many at all, let alone ones that fell within my price range. Then, I noticed that World Market, another favorite retailer of mine, was selling its own version of a similar wicker sconce for the much more manageable price of $64.99. Needless to say, I decided to order two of them and have now created the bedroom setup of my dreams.

I opted to install the sconces as they were, but I could also see spray painting the black base either white or gold to better match existing decor. Simply head on over to the hardware store, grab a can or two of paint, and instantly customize these pieces to make them more “you” without spending much.

Weighing various sconce options? I like that these can swivel to ensure an optimal amount of light is hitting at any given time. They also take normal-sized lightbulbs, so there’s no need to worry about shopping for anything specific when preparing to install your new buy. Easy upgrades = the best upgrades!
