Wellness retreats, food trips, and staycations are so 2018. The new “it” getaway? Plant-focused homestays. According to Airbnb, Plus hosts have described their rentals as “green” and “natural” more than 1,000 times in the past year. Considering that we, too, love to imagine vegging out among the vegetation (these tours from Philadelphia, Chicago, and San Francisco come to mind), this flora-focused tourism has us wondering when’s a good time to “leaf” for a weekend getaway.

For those who want to sleep among the asparagus ferns and ZZ plants as they traverse the world, here are five of the best vacation rentals for plant lovers:

Portland, Oregon, $83/night, on average

Looking for a domestic getaway? Have no fear—this Portland studio is here for all your needs!

Located in the King neighborhood—sandwiched between downtown and the airport—this “light and bright” studio is on the top floor of the 1910 triplex. With a claw foot tub, original marble tile, and a full kitchen, the space is only furthered in popularity by Superhosts Peter and Alea (the latter of whom owns a plant shop!). This cozy apartment sleeps two.

Check in to this sweet Portland find, and then walk to famous nearby haunts, including the Alberta Arts district, Mississippi Avenue, and the International Rose Test and Japanese Gardens.

Honolulu, Hawaii, $150/night, on average

Hawaii’s native plants help it truly lives up its moniker as the Paradise of the Pacific. Of all that grow on the eight islands, ninety percent are found nowhere else in the world.

With this VRBO in Honolulu, Oahu, up to four guests can truly enjoy all the lovely foliage the islands have to offer. The space boasts a whopping 17 skylights and is filled with potted palms and plants. The only thing that rivals the loft’s beauty is the beautiful mountain and ocean views!

This two-bedroom apartment is in the 18th arrondissement, within walking distance of both Sacré-Cœur and the Arc de Triomphe. Saint Simons Island, Georgia, $329/night, on average

With a name like “The Fig House,” it’s almost *impossible* to not expect all the fig trees your heart could desire!

This newly-renovated mid-century modern home is in Kelvin Grove, close to marshes and the Atlantic Ocean. With two master bedrooms, a bunk room, a sun room, and a sitting room, there is more than enough space for nine people to spread out and enjoy all that this lovely home has to offer—especially the bamboo and huge tree ligustrums.

After taking a dip in the private pool, head on over to the nearby beaches. For other outdoors-centric activities, visit the historical lighthouse, Neptune Park, and Driftwood Beach.

Lisbon, Portugal, $338/night, on average

Coffee, history, and plants make this homestay a must for your next trip abroad.

Enjoy an oasis in the center of a city, all from the comfort of a 19th century building. Located on “Hope Street” in the heart of Madragoa, this plant-based three-room apartment sleeps 12 guests. The space has lots of natural light (all the better for the plants), and is easily walkable to the Tapada das Necessidades, the Jardim Botanico, and the Jardim Nuno Álvares.

East London, England, $361/night, on average

Big city stays don’t have to be without some fresh, green nature—even in the indoors.

At this open-plan home approximately a half-mile from Trafalgar Square, guests can enjoy a friendly cat, parquet flooring, 1920s style doors and windows, and ferns, figs and greenery galore. It sleeps up to six guests.

At this Airbnb Plus listing—a mere 43 minutes from Cape Town’s International Airport by car—guests will stay in a working flower farm. The green-filled indoor space holds up to eight guests, featuring modern amenities and a fireplace. Outside, though, is on a whole other level: Surroundings including a mountain range, full-length pool, and a full-size maple tree.
