Alexander Skarsgard Eyes A Brooklyn Fixer Upper

Actor Alexander Skarsgård recently brought home a Golden Globe for his portrayal of abusive husband Perry Wright on HBO’s Big Little Lies. Now, Skarsgård is looking for a potential new mantle—and accompanying new home— to place his award on.

The actor’s on-screen persona may call a cushy, modern Monterey mansion home, but Skarsgård’s real life tastes are far more urban—he recently checked out a $4.55 million fixer-upper in Brooklyn. Perhaps the former True Blood star is looking to upgrade from his current $2.3 million East Village townhouse (once owned by Parker Posey) that he purchased in August of last year; and since the Brooklyn brownstone is down from its original $4.99 million asking price in 2016, Skarsgård may be ready to sink his teeth in.

The brick row house is located in the borough’s posh Brooklyn Heights neighborhood, and is just “steps from Brooklyn Bridge Park,” according to the home’s real estate listing. While the townhouse is need of some love, it is on one of the “finest, tree-lined streets, amongst a row of historic townhouses.”

The Neo-Grec style mansion is five stories tall, and at nearly 5,500 square feet, it features five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, as well as a cellar with full ceiling heights. The historic home is chock-full of classic, original details, such as mahogany banisters, moldings, mantles, multiple fireplaces, soaring ceilings, and pocket shutters. So what’s the home’s most jaw-dropping feature? Well, perhaps it’s the brownstone’s five-story spiral staircase—thanks to not only those intricate mahogany details, but also the skylight that resides over the central stairwell.
