Name: Aliyah (6) and Brayden (3)
Location: Clearwater, FL
Since our move from Michigan to Florida, Brayden and Aliyah have been sharing a room and they've grown to love it. What I didn't love so much was the mesh of their two previous rooms, with Aliyah's bright pink and purple theme and Brayden's aqua and orange color palette...well, you can guess how well that all matched up.
So I set my mind to a new project (because I so need more on my plate right now, ha) that wouldn't cost much, that would be rental home friendly (meaning my husband didn't want to paint and wanted few holes), that would move Brayden from a toddler bed to a twin size bed and that would be a wonderful living space for my two littles to love together!
It was a small(ish) room, so we needed to make as much play space as possible, and so we created beds out of wood pallets, and used a tall shelf from IKEA to store all of their books and toys combined. We also made a free-standing magnetic chalk board so that they'd have an "art" area without taking up too much space or creating more holes in the wall by hanging anything. To create some whimsy, we added vintage touches, like the DIY comic book cloud mobile, wooden toys and their rocking horse in the corner. The new color scheme with plenty of white to brighten the space, red, yellow and touches of blue plays right into the quilts we have on their beds that tie it all together and make the entire room a bright and cheery place to be.
