Alphabet City: Word Art from New York City Streets

Joanne Dugan is a teacher and photographer who just launched her own web-based business. Alphabet City, a collection of peel-and-stick letters, represents ten years of her work. Each letter is a photograph Joanne captured on the streets of New York — if you look closely, you’ll see pieces of graffiti and signage from all five boroughs.

There are three separate collections of 26 letters, each of them sold in three sizes: Mini (4×4″, $30), Classic (10×10″, $100), and Jumbo (18×18″, $150). You can also buy custom words (including your child’s name) or popular pre-made words that range from $30 to $90, depending on size.

Joanne has two published books for sale through ABC NYC: A Book About Seeing New York City and 123 NYC: A Counting Book of New York City. (Either is a great holiday gift idea if you’re looking for an out-of-the-ordinary children’s book.)
