This Is the $5.99 Amazon Purchase That Saved My Engagement Ring
When I got engaged, my ring turned out to be a little too big, but since my fiancé and I were on vacation, I had to wait until we got home to get it resized. Fine, no problem. But it was a problem when I got it resized and the engagement ring was still turning on its side. Turns out, my fingers aren’t proportional to my knuckles when it comes to rings—it fit perfectly over my knuckle, but it wouldn’t stay put on my finger. And while I wasn’t at risk of my ring falling off, I was upset that the ring wouldn’t stay put and found myself constantly propping it back up on top.
It wasn’t until I was at my sister’s housewarming party that a family member noticed my ring falling down the side of my finger and told me she dealt with the same issue. That’s when she recommended the ring size adjuster by GWHOLE, which is sold on Amazon for $5.99. I was skeptical at first, but not going to lie, but I figured with such a low cost, the worst that could happen was that I scarified a few dollars.
Here’s how it works: these see-through adjusters are bendy cords made of plastic that are four inches long, which you can cut to whatever length you need. You then loop the cord around your band until it keeps the ring snug against your finger, and since it’s made of flexible plastic, it molds to your finger shape. I had to take the cord off a couple of times and shorten it with scissors, then re-loop it to eventually get it to fit like a ring should. But the work was worth the payoff—even as I type thing I’m looking pridefully at my ring that is actually facing upward.
However, while the adjuster is great until I get to another jeweler to see about getting it resized again, it’s not a permanent solution. You can’t see it with my palm facing down, but it’s fairly visible when I turn it over, and if I ever eat anything with my hands I have to be extra careful. It’s kind of like having clear braces, if you know what I mean.
But for the time being, I’m happy that my ring isn’t shifting around on my finger, and realistically this could be a great option for someone who also has an oversized ring that needs a cheap solution stat. A ring being slightly loose around your finger is one thing, but a ring that could slip right off your finger… that needs to be taken care of pronto.
